Digitalization of workshop processes to support logistics operations
Tirso e Hinto®Group: come digitalizzare i processi di logistica e mettere in comunicazione tutti gli stakeholder. Scopri il case study sul nostro sito.

Watch now the interview with Alessandro Barrocu (IT Manager Tirso).
Tirso Logistica Mediterranea is a long-established company founded in 1969, now operating nationwide in heavy transport management, integrated logistics, and warehousing, with a strong regional presence and an entrepreneurial vision passed down from generation to generation.
With the aim of increasing control over internal processes and optimizing workflows, the company has launched a digital transformation project together with Hinto®Group, aimed at innovating the entire operational cycle of the workshop, the strategic heart of the business.
For years, activities were managed using paper forms: from staff attendance to intervention sheets, right up to the final balance of work. It was a cumbersome, costly process that was highly prone to delays, errors, and redundancies in data transcription. The challenge was to build a simple, robust, and accessible platform that could be integrated with the department's operational needs while ensuring accuracy and continuity.
The project starts from a concrete need: to equip the workshop (and beyond) with a digital tool capable of replacing the entire paper cycle, ensuring timely data collection, real-time processing, and the ability to return KPIs useful for monitoring activities.
The working environment, characterized by complex operating conditions, required the use of a basic interface that could be immediately understood by all staff without the need for advanced training. The main challenge was not only technical but also cultural: switching from paper to a digital interface meant introducing new habits, new timescales, and a different way of interacting with operational information. For this reason, the approach chosen by Hinto®Group focused from the outset on understanding the real daily dynamics, involving both management and operational staff, with the aim of building a tailor-made solution.
“One of the things that made me choose Hinto was their logical approach to software development: they didn't immediately ask us what we needed, but rather what problems might arise in the transition to digital. That made all the difference.”

The project followed an incremental and participatory approach, divided into four main phases:
1. Analysis and collection of requirements
Through workshops and interviews with the operational teams, a complete mapping of the flows to be digitized and the critical issues perceived by the staff was defined. The initial focus was not on the desired functionalities, but on the difficulties that could arise in the adoption process.
2. Prototyping and continuous validation
Hinto® created a first navigable version of the interface, which was tested by mechanics and refined based on feedback gathered in the field. The interface was designed to work on rugged tablets and is also compatible with different devices, ensuring usability in physically demanding environments and scalability in the event of technological upgrades.
3. Progressive development and release
Each module was implemented and released individually, tested in a controlled environment, and validated with staff. This ensured a smooth transition to the new system and a high level of user acceptance.
4. Training, support, and continuous improvement with the customer
Thanks to the constant involvement of the internal team, the system has evolved even after going live, integrating new features requested by users and gradually adapting to other areas of the business.

Just a few days after the platform was fully adopted, the benefits were immediately visible:
- Elimination of paper documents, with a drastic reduction in errors and transaction recording times;
- Data always up to date, available in real time for analysis, reporting, and operational control;
- Increased productivity in post-processing activities, thanks to the elimination of manual data entry;
- Greater control and visibility over workshop activities, with KPIs accessible to the entire organization;
- Increased staff involvement, with employees playing a leading role in the adoption and improvement of the tool.
The project also laid the foundations for continuous evolution, with the gradual extension of the platform to other operational and management areas. Today, Tirso continues its digitalization journey with a solid foundation built around the real needs of the organization. The collaboration with Hinto®Group has shown that innovating in complex contexts means first and foremost listening, understanding, and building simple, concrete solutions that are ready to evolve over time.
